Group Session: 6 First Responders Experience Healing Through Ketamine Assisted Therapy
An invitation to experience our retreat through a recent experience with 6 first responders: Where we weave the principles of nervous system healing with the power of ketamine-assisted therapy.
....................
What happened in space together was something worth naming and worth remembering.
As the first responder, you train to hold it together, to manage, to protect, and to push through. You came in carrying what that asks of a nervous system: the armor, the vigilance, the effortful relating to yourselves and to everything hard inside you.
And then something shifted.
THE UNFOLDING
You began where most of us live, in our adaptive responses. The strategies we developed to survive, to function, to keep showing up. Together, we named them with curiosity rather than judgment, and that act alone was quietly revolutionary.
From there, something genuine emerged: a shared longing to change, not just for yourselves, but for the people you love, the colleagues beside you in the field, and the parts of you that rarely get tended to. That desire became a thread connecting every person in the room.
You went below the surface. Past the cognitive armor. Past the noise. Into something more authentic: what we might call the Self, steady, spacious, and already whole beneath everything you've carried.
TOOLS FOR YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM
You now carry a real toolkit for coming back to yourself:
• Orienting — letting your eyes and senses anchor you in the present
• Extended exhale breathing — activating your body's own calming system
• Resourcing images — calling on what already feels safe and good inside you
• Hand on heart / hand on belly — simple, powerful anchors for self-contact
• Co-regulation — remembering that our nervous systems heal in relationship
• Music — as medicine, as container, as something that reaches where words can't
And you were given a new language to hold your experience:
Curiosity. Window of tolerance. Pendulation. Titration.
These aren't just clinical terms. They are maps for navigating your inner world without getting lost in it.
THE SOUNDS THAT HELD US
Our journeys were supported by music carefully chosen to meet the nervous system where it is and invite it somewhere more open:
• Guided Meditation: "Meditation for Chaotic Times" by East Forest

• 1st Journey Playlist — Rainfall KAP Kosmic

• 2nd Journey Playlist — Sunrise

This one belongs to you. It is yours.
WHAT THE GROUP DID TOGETHER
If there is one arc that describes what this retreat held, it is this:
We collectively moved from cognitively-bound, effortful relating to our problems into a shared field of surrender, expanded awareness, and nervous system safety; therefore, resulting in decreased identification with distress, increased sense of belonging, and a greater capacity to integrate insight into real-world identity.
In plainer words: you let something down. You let each other in. And you left more connected than when you arrived.
Thank you for your courage, your openness, and your willingness to go somewhere real together. First responders spend so much of their lives showing up for others. What you did this weekend was show up for yourselves and for each other.
That matters more than words can hold.
With deep respect and care,
Lillie and Michael
